Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2026
SkipKey processes your voice entirely on your iPhone. We do not collect, store, or transmit your audio, transcripts, or personal data to any server.
What we collect
SkipKey does not collect personal information. The app operates entirely on-device. The following data stays local to your phone and is never shared with us or any third party:
- Audio recordings you make
- Transcripts generated from your recordings
- Word counts and dictation statistics
- App settings and preferences
- Custom AI modes you create
On-device processing
All speech recognition runs locally using a model bundled with the app. Your audio is never uploaded to a remote server for transcription. There is no account, no sign-in, and no user profile associated with your use of SkipKey.
AI post-processing (optional)
SkipKey offers an optional AI polish feature. If you choose to enable it and provide an API key, transcripts are sent to the third-party AI provider you configure (for example, OpenRouter) to apply grammar and punctuation corrections. This feature is disabled by default.
When AI post-processing is active, the transcript text — not your audio — is sent to the external service. Please review the privacy policy of your chosen provider before enabling this feature.
Analytics and tracking
SkipKey does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting services. The app does not track you across other apps or websites. Local dictation statistics (word counts, time saved) are stored only on your device and are never transmitted.
Microphone access
SkipKey requests microphone permission to record your voice for transcription. The microphone is only active when you initiate a recording. A lightweight standby mode may keep the microphone session open in the background so subsequent recordings can start immediately; iOS displays the microphone indicator whenever this is active.
App Store and Apple
When you download SkipKey from the App Store, Apple may collect data as described in Apple's own privacy policy. We do not control Apple's data practices.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of SkipKey after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
